With already 4 draws in seven games for the team arguably known for thier defending concentration for the whole 90 minutes doesn't seem there anymore as once again like what already happen against Clubs like Fulham and Everton as what seem to be like a win in the bag out of nowhere ending in a draw. And well it was no difference as Man utd once again failed to deliver the killer Game instincts against West Brom as they let go a 2 goal lead to lose two points making it 5 draws in 8 games now and Fergusan not a cheerful man.
United deployed the 4-4-2 system with the major selection issue being Wayne Rooney on the bench and who already confirmed that he want's to leave(Typical of ungrateful players)! Carrick and Anderson had a run together in midfield with Carrick likely to do some defensive duties in the back thus giving Anderson the freedom to power forward.
While West Brom came with a 4-1-4-1 system with Fortune the main point of their attack force and Tychoi who was given his first start under Roberto Di Matteo and the ever impressive Brunt on the wings to give some good whipping balls to A aerial powerful Fortune.
West Brom started the Stronger side but Man utd as expected turned it around and in just Five minutes New signing Javier Hernandez once again proved his Credibility in the team by showing great Awareness to tap in the ball via a Nani Freekick that was weakly parried by Scott Carson showing that he indeed can replicate the style of Forever remembered Christiano Ronaldo.Looks like god was there for Hernandez as he was seen in a deep prayer on the half way line before the match at the half way line.
Minutes later,West Brom though luck was on their side as a low cross from Fortune was barely tap around the goal by Da Silva who had to room for Error as Chris Brunt was sneaking up behind him for the finish...But Luck didn't seem to be present for them that time as poor Officiating by the linesmen called it a Goal kick(Sorry guys false alarm,Looks like it wasn't luck)
But other then that,Man utd still was always treatening as they looked like they would score as the hit the final third.Carrick and Anderson played rather quite well to just at least rub of some of the 'flop' tag on them.Berbatov also showing the no need of Rooney in the game as he was a treat too to the defence of West Brom.
And well before we knew it,20 minutes later Man Utd again Scored as United's killer second goal again was a touch self-inflicted after Nani followed up a Nicky Shorey slip on the half-way line and from there Berbatov and Nani Powered into the Unorganized Defence with Nani abled to slide home Berbatov's centre on 25 minutes. The Portuguese swooped with aplomb after he calmly played the Bulgarian in after his terrorizing run.It seemed the game was over by then as Man Utd just didn't seem to be making any mistakes.
Bad news as Ryan Giggs's injury changed the shape of United's midfield and the effectiveness of the attack. He went off injured and the lack of natural wide player on the bench forced Anderson out of central midfield and to the left which is out of his natural position. United were not quite the same from then on. Darron Gibson came to the middle alongside Micheal Carrick but, because Anderson drifted inside alot Berbatov, United most dangerous player was forced to search for more space down the left side of the field which effectively ended thier dominance in the mid half of the midfield...
But nevertheless,They were still more Eye catching in front of goal as the start of second half almost brought the third goal as Nani cross was hammered against the the post by Nemanja Vidic. All that dominance however was about to turn around as Anderson hauled Tchoyi just at the edge of the box.Brunt hammered a low free kick into a bunch of players and it came off the right player but the ball just didn't go into the right path as Patrice Evra deflected the ball into his own net In the 50th minute to silence the Man Utd fans as this was only the first real attack by West Brom in like the whole game And suddenly they were only a goal down.
And just as things look to be back in control,Man Utd once again proved their vulnerability in defence but this time was Van Der Sar with a Schoolboy Error which is very very Rare to see from this Dutch Veteran who didn't seem pressured at all for the whole game..(And i though you could only see this by Arsenal's Goalkeepers) Ad Once again A Intimidating Cross from Brunt was misjudged by Van Der Sar and It spilled kindly to Tchoyi to score just five minutes after their first goal.Bad side for United fans, but West Brom had renewed belief now and pressed another gear more further up the pitch as a result.
Things became alarming for man Utd and so came on his top class reserves Rooney and Scholes soon after.Rooney soon had a chance in the game as a poor back pass by the west brom defence gave him the chance to release a low shot but No thanks to Tamas who's heroics save West Brom from any lost of Confidence.
Brunt who has featured so greatly for the Team again continued to star and his rasping long-distance shot had van der Sar scrambling across his goal as the Di Matteo's men gave as good as they got.
At the end,No more goals hit the back of the net leaving United Crest fallen once again and you For surehave to leave big question marks over the psychological make-up of the squad.Man Utd really have to get back to dressing room and figure out this downfall fast or Chelsea might pretty well be on top and not catchable sooner rather then later. So with that result,Man Utd have dropped down to fourth and West brom impressively up there at 6th
