Well Folks! After the long speculation of Gerard Houllier Coming to the club,Owner Randy Lerner Has been reported to have confirmed the deal which will see the Frenchmen coming to the club by next week although i don't really know the terms that have been Agreed.Never the less! It's a great capture by the Birmingham Side!

~~UPDATED~~

GERARD HOULLIER was last night named the new manager of Aston Villa after signing a three-year contract.

The former Liverpool boss resigned as the technical director of the French Football Federation yesterday to take up the post.

Houllier, 63, said: "It was a very difficult decision to leave the FFF but I could not turn down this opportunity.

"Aston Villa is one of England's biggest clubs and has an amazing set of fans. This is a tremendous challenge."

The Frenchman will meet the Villa squad today before preparing for Monday night's Premier League clash at Stoke.

Villa's announcement comes exactly one month after Martin O'Neill walked out on the club just five days before the start of the Premier League season.

Houllier beat Sven Goran Eriksson, Alan Curbishley and caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald to the post after all four were interviewed.

MacDonald's future is uncertain after leading the club for five games and Houllier will now decide on his coaching team.

It is understood his ex-Liverpool players Dietmar Hamann and Gary McAllister are in line to be his new No 2 — but neither coach McAllister's club Middlesbrough nor Hamann's MK Dons have been approached.Houllier was in charge at Anfield for six years until 2004 and won five trophies in 2001.Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner said: "Mr Houllier stands out as a man who understands the ethos of our club and shares our core values."Villa are fourth in the Prem, having had two wins and a loss under MacDonald.-The Sun
