Off to St James Park,a Popular ground back in the days.Which doesn't mean it's not popular now.Just making a statement =)..Anyway Newcastle Were without The influential Joey Barton who was suspended and so Walesmen Danny Guthrie was handed his first start for the club in place of the Englishmen as Houghton will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat Against Blackburn in midweek which brought them down back to earth with an instant.Fulham gave a decent fight to Chelsea and will be hoping that was enough to defeat Newcastle to move them nearer to the top half.Fulham invited the strength of Dickson Etuhu back into the squad although i don't know why Duff was playing as a defender which was last played by Briggs.Zoltan Gera also started this game after being on the bench on midweek. And Andy Johnsen also making his first 11 start after returning from Injury
And it was Newcastle Who started in Positive style as A run down the flank By simpson was then followed by a brilliant curling cross for Lovenkrands who headed it with Power but no accuracy.Fulham who characteristically organised their Defence still manage to Get their Half of the chances when Simon Davies cross fell to the ever impressing Dempsey but he was denied to the ever impressing Krul.
Fulham Continued to search for their attacking options and Again the American Dempsey at the thick of things again as A lay off by Dembele was superbly blocked by Krul who looks to be staking a claim in the squad. As Newcastle Felt left out,They then attack and the Young Englishmen Andy Carrol who looked set to play for England header was denied by Schwarzer and the follow up by Loverands who blasted the ball point black also failed to enter and Schwarzer showing that Aussies can indeed play football and not just Australian rules. That certainly would have given Hughes a fright of his life as you could just see it by looking at his face.
Carrol who has scored most of his goals with his thick hollow head also proved that his legs got some worth as a stiff shot by the Pony tailed Striker once again denied by Arsenal's Target Mark Schwarzer but can't forget the tidy up by Zoltan Gera.Newcastle had the more of chances in the second half but It was Fulham with the better chances when Another Cross By Davies was shot by Dembele but it crashed into the crossbar before being cleared away.Lifeline for Newcastle,The beauty of having a goalpost ^^
Even with Big wins against Sunderland,Arsenal And Aston Villa they couldn't keep consistent as Losses the lower par teams have played a massive role to them still being down there in the chasing pack. With Carrol being a treat in the latter stages of the game with his aerial prowess and all.God destined it to be a draw so it's was a stalemate.Valuable point for both teams.A result both Managers will accept(No joke,I saw the post match)... :)
