Review of week 11 of Barclays premier league

SATURDAY

Another week has gone,Meaning another week to christmas :)...A time where there will be happiness and sadness for some(In football terms)...Just like what happened this week,Records were broken, heavy Favorites brought down to earth and revivals from clubs. It all happened this week on week 11th.

And the torrents of surprises started with already the first game when Bolton Wanderers trounced Tottenham Hotspur who were still bubbling from the Earlier mid week success of reigning Champions league champions 3-1 by a scoreline of 4-2 with New England Call up once again impressing with 2 goals. And the next game between Birmingham and West ham was a game which West ham showed some signs of revival when they lead 2-0 but again they disappointed their fans when they led slip a great lead to draw the game thus leaving them still at the basement of the league and also failing to capture their first away victory since the start of last season which is an astounding record.

There was also controversy at Ewood Park as Blackburn hauled themselves out of the relegation zone at Wigan's expense with a 2-1 win.Morten Gamst Pedersen blasted in a free-kick from way out on the right to put Rovers ahead in the 58th minute before Jason Roberts scored a hotly-disputed second, with the visiting defence appealing for offside.Charles N'Zogbia, who had seen a first-half goal chalked off, set up a nervy finish with a brilliant free-kick.

Sunderland in the other hand had to win back some pride(Not sure if they had any since that lost against Newcastle) both for club and also from the fans. And they did just that as Asamoah Gyan made his first start replacing the injured Darren Bent and proved to Bruce what he has been missing from the Ghanian as he scored both goals of the game to steer Sunderland to a 2-0 win over ten men Stoke and showed some fancy dance moves too which also had controversy when a header did appear push off from goal from Cattermole and again later this time legally. And Shawcross making it even worst with a sending off.

Blackpool once again showed that depth in the side but failed to win their match against Everton...Just barely as They let their lead slip away twice.Neil Eardley who was celebrating his 22nd birthday couldn't have asked for a better present as his brilliant free kick put the seasiders in the lead But Aussie kangaroo Tim Cahill showed his Kangaroo like jump to header a powered header into the net.David Vaughan scored later 3 minutes into the next half as Blackpool and Everton appealed for a handball. Seamus took advantage to equalize 3 minutes later to share the spoils by slotting it under the keeper,A simple celebration since the kid was a hot Favorited at Bloomfield in last season's road to promotion.

Man Utd had a scare of themselves as Park Ji Sung's brilliance just scrape a victory for the Devils.Park Ji Sung scored in the 24th minute to give them the lead but Former Utd Trainee Slyvain Blake got back the Equalizer for the Wolves side and when all seemed to be ending square,Park Ji sung came to Man Utd Rescue in the 93rd minute to get back the lead and catapulting them to second just 2 points behind Leaders Chelsea while Wolves are still second from bottom just two points from Bottom team West ham.A perfect day for Alex Fergusan as this was his 24th anniversary at the club...Well almost,if not for Hargreaves who limp off just 5 minutes into the game. His first match in 2 years...

Brede Hangeland came to the rescue once again for Fulham as we witness another late goal in the week but this time it was for a draw when he Defender rose deep into time to salvage a precious point against A blunt Aston Villa Attack who first team strikers are all out.Aston Villa had the lead in the 40th minute with a superb strike by Marc Albrigton.Which sum up all the games for Saturday...

SUNDAY

Sunday set the stage for big three games where Second placed Arsenal could close the gap on Chelsea and keep the pace while Chelsea themselves can open up the gap if They beat a Liverpool team who have shown a sign of a possible revival by the club. And of all shocking results this week, this had to be the biggest with Newcastle defeating Arsenal with A solitary Andy Carrol goal in front of Cappelo who was watching.Arsenal just couldn't get back even with all the possession as Newcastle just seem to big psychically which is a big blow to Arsenal's Catch up to Chelsea and the sent off of Koschielky didn't do any good late in the half.

In the biggest match of the week,Liverpool showed that their revival indeed isn't short term with a fantastic 2:0 win against A Chelsea side that before this look indestructible As Torres also found his scoring touch again with both of the goals.Anelka had a chance to get a goal but his shot hit the bar and Drogba coming on second half didn't make a difference as Liverpool recorded their third straight victory.

In the other Match,
At the Hawthorns there was a A sign of relieve in the Man City camp and Mancini when the team beat in from West brom by the same scoreline when Balotelli who just came back from surgery open his accounts for the club in the premier league with Some good strength shown in the build up and made it even better with a second goal. Balotelli dream start was dashed when he was sent off later in the game for a tangle with Malumbu who also had himself sent off after a scathing attack on Tevez.Nevertheless,Man City will be proud of the win as they are now level on points with Arsenal who are placed third.
